I'd chose Octatrack, but I have an MK1 and love it. My only MPC experience was with an MPC 500. I like to really twist and manipulate samples and do a lot of things to the sample while it's playing. The Octatrack is terrific for this. The live sampling, or just ability to use it as a mixer and live effects unit is also great.
